Immigration & Newcomer Programs
Immigrants - Newcomer Programs
New immigrants have always been pivotal to the success of Canada. The NACA supports Newcomers migrating to Canada from all corners of the world. Our main mandate is to encourage greater migration from predominant Black Countries in Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas and the Pacific Isles.
As a country built on its mosaic values with new immigrants bringing their culture, dedication and values for a more inclusive and diverse Canada. Black Canadians have been contributing to the growth of Canada since the 1500’s as free people and as forced slave labour to the Canadian landscape before Canada was formed as a country in 1867. In recent years we have seen the Canadian Immigration policies placing less importance on predominantly Black Culture migration to Canada. We will work with all Canadian governments, federal and provincial to ensure that a greater priority is given to Black migration to Canada.
Through our community-based settlement programs, we are a place of welcome, friendship and community, where newcomers and neighbours gather to support each other, learn from each other, and work together for a more just and compassionate society. We are here to facilitate newcomer settlement and integration through holistic services and community engagement, carried out within a gender justice and anti-oppression framework.
We envision a society in which all people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds participate fully in all aspects of Canadian life and experience. We model an approach that brings together community engagement and community services, working with newcomers to reduce insecurity and reach integration, strengthen voices and increase tolerance among all Canadians.
